Why was this website created? It all connects to the convenience and safety of the customers in the tourism industry in Greece.
This is not the Acropolis venue’s website.
The idea spawned from the globally known phenomenon that affected almost all industries, especially tourism, COVID-19. My sister and I grew up in a country and in a family business, KeyTours S.A., where tourism is core to our business model. We made an important observation; COVID-19 was influencing the needs of our customers by moving away from archeological group tours due to how COVID-19 spreads.
In 2020, Skip the line Acropolis Tickets were introduced by KeyTours with the first lockdown and became more attractive to customers which prioritized their health, safety and convenience. The tickets provide to customers a minor solution to the pandemic with the service of “jumping” queues to archeological sites of Acropolis with the aim of minimizing risks of getting infected and at the same time dramatically reducing their waiting time. In 2021, the first agreements and the idea implementation took place with existing online travel agents (O.T.A.), after various presentations that resulted in positive feedback from O.T.As. Finally, in 2022 in light of the idea’s success and based on research conducted online about the existing available options, we decided that the creation of this website was needed. In our research we found that to book the tickets directly, the Greek Ministry of Culture was the only option, however, it is a rigorous and time-consuming process which received negative feedback from customers.
We also pride ourselves in preserving Greek archeological sites. For each ticket sold, a euro from the service fee is donated towards the restoration of an archeological site, chosen at the end of the year. Our mission is to spin this into a much bigger program in the upcoming years given its success.
